Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd announced that its Hydrocarbon vertical (L&T Energy Hydrocarbon – LTEH) has secured an “ultra-mega” Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) order for a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) recovery and processing project in the Middle East.
Order Details
According to the company’s exchange filing, the contract involves the complete EPC scope for design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of facilities related to NGL recovery, storage, and distribution.
The order is classified as “ultra-mega”—the company’s highest project size category—indicating a value in excess of ₹15,000 crore, although exact financial details remain undisclosed due to confidentiality agreements with the client.
Strategic Importance
The award is seen as a significant boost for L&T’s hydrocarbon business, consolidating its presence in the Middle East—a region where the company has a long track record of delivering large-scale oil and gas projects.
Officials highlighted that the project will play a vital role in enhancing energy security for the client nation by boosting the efficiency of natural gas recovery and maximizing value from hydrocarbon streams.
L&T’s Competitive Edge
L&T’s Hydrocarbon business has developed a strong reputation in the Middle East over decades, executing complex EPC projects across:
- Gas processing plants
- Refineries and petrochemical complexes
- Subsea and offshore installations
By leveraging its engineering design centers, modular fabrication yards, and global supply chain network, the company aims to deliver the project within aggressive timelines while maintaining international quality and safety benchmarks.
Industry Context
The Middle East continues to channel investments into expanding gas processing and petrochemicals capacity, even as it diversifies towards renewables. With global energy markets emphasizing natural gas as a transitional fuel, NGL projects are seen as critical to monetizing hydrocarbon resources.
India’s engineering giants like L&T are well-positioned to capture this demand, especially with the company’s ability to handle integrated “end-to-end” EPC packages.
Outlook
Management expressed confidence that the contract win reinforces L&T’s leadership in the global EPC space:
“This order validates our execution capabilities and the trust international clients place in us. With this award, we strengthen our role in building energy infrastructure that will serve for decades.”
The order is expected to contribute significantly to L&T’s order book for FY26, further bolstering visibility in its hydrocarbon vertical’s revenue pipeline.
